NUST is Pakistan's highest ranked university for engineering and technology, operating a semester system with a relative grading policy across its schools in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi. Undergraduate degrees are 130-136 credit hours and students are placed on probation below a 2.00 CGPA.

1 credit hour = 1 hour of lecture per week for a 16-week semester; labs count 1 credit per 3 contact hours.

Scholarships at NUST
HEC Need-Based Scholarship
Covers tuition plus a living stipend for students whose family income is below the HEC threshold. Applied for through the university financial aid office.
Merit Scholarship
Tuition waiver of 25-100% awarded each semester on the basis of the previous semester CGPA and a clean disciplinary record.
Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship
Government of Pakistan programme for undergraduate students from low-income households at HEC-recognised public and private universities.
