HEC Need-Based Scholarships: Who Qualifies and How to Apply

· 6 min read

Income thresholds, required documents, verification visits and deadlines for HEC and Ehsaas need-based scholarships at Pakistani universities.

Who the programme is for

HEC need-based scholarships target undergraduate students from households that cannot meet tuition and living costs, typically with a combined monthly income under roughly PKR 45,000.

Awards usually cover full tuition plus a monthly living stipend, and are renewed each year subject to maintaining a satisfactory CGPA.

Documents you will need

Prepare CNIC copies for you and your guardian, an income certificate or salary slip, recent utility bills, rent agreement or property documents, and your latest transcript.

Incomplete documentation is the single biggest reason applications are rejected before they ever reach the interview stage.

The verification step

Most universities conduct an interview and, for shortlisted applicants, a home verification visit. Be consistent: the declared income must match what the documents and the visit show.

Run the MeriDegree scholarship eligibility checker for your university first so you know which awards you realistically qualify for before you spend weeks on paperwork.
